Specialist care for your digestive health
Gastroenterology focuses on the digestive system – including the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine and colon – and closely related organs such as the gallbladder, bile ducts, liver and pancreas.. Whether you’re dealing with heartburn, IBS, or abdominal discomfort, our consultants take the time to listen, investigate and find the cause of your symptoms.
Common gastroenterology conditions we treat
Digestive symptoms are common and often manageable once the cause is identified. Our gastroenterology specialists diagnose and treat a full range of conditions – from minor issues to complex conditions. – with expert, compassionate care.
Acid reflux (GORD)
Heartburn or acid reflux happens when stomach acid travels up into the oesophagus, causing discomfort, burning, or a sour taste – often worse after eating or when lying down.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
A common digestive condition that causes bloating, abdominal pain, cramping and changes in bowel habits. Symptoms often come and go and can be triggered by certain foods or psychological stress.
Coeliac disease
An autoimmune condition where the immune system reacts to gluten, damaging the lining of the small intestine. This can lead to bloating, diarrhoea, fatigue and nutritional deficiencies.
Gallstones
Small, hardened deposits that form in the gallbladder and can block bile flow – causing pain in the upper right of your abdomen, nausea or discomfort after eating fatty foods.
Indigestion (Dyspepsia)
A feeling of pain, fullness or burning in the upper abdomen, often triggered by eating or drinking. It can be occasional or ongoing and may be linked to reflux, ulcers or certain foods.
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a collective name for autoimmune conditions called Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. IBD requires ongoing care to help manage flare-ups of symptoms and maintain stability.
How we can help
Our gastroenterology specialists provide end-to-end care – from initial consultation to diagnostics and treatment. With quick access to expert consultants, clear pricing, and minimal wait times, getting seen has never been simpler.

See what our patients have to say
I had been passed pillar to post with the nhs and finally made the decision to make the appointment. Dr Efe made me feel so at ease from the first moment we walked into the room. Listened to everything I had to say and made me feel so understood. Gave me a few different treatment options to choose from. Very grateful to have seen him today.
— Patient of Efe EjenaviMy experience seeing Dr Smith from initial consultation, to the endoscopy procedures, to the follow up reports and consultation was superb. He is incredibly professional, knowledgable and reassuring. I felt genuinely comfortable and at ease during both the endoscopy and colonoscopy - so much so that I would now not worry at all if I ever needed to have either again. I would thoroughly recommend Dr Smith.
