Prostate cancer symptoms to look out for
Prostate cancer often develops slowly and many men won’t notice symptoms in the early stages. When they do appear, they can be easy to overlook – so it’s important to be aware of these signs and speak to a specialist if you notice any changes.
Urinary symptoms
Difficulty starting or stopping urination, weak flow, or needing to go more often (especially at night).
Blood in urine or semen
A small amount of blood in your urine or semen can be an early sign of a problem that needs checking.
Erectile dysfunction
Sometimes difficulty getting or maintaining an erection may be linked to changes within the prostate.
Pain in your back, hips or pelvis
Persistent or unexplained pain in these areas can sometimes be related to changes within the prostate, such as prostate cancer.
Unexplained weight loss
Losing weight without trying should always be checked by a medical professional – especially when it occurs alongside any of these other symptoms.
General discomfort or pressure
A feeling of fullness or pain between the scrotum and anus may also signal changes within the prostate that are worth investigating.
Understanding an enlarged prostate
An enlarged prostate is common with age and can cause frequent urination or a weak flow. Our specialists assess symptoms early to keep you comfortable and confident.

The role of PSA testing
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) testing is a simple blood test that can pick up early signs of prostate cancer. If your result is raised, we’ll arrange a fast MRI and provide the care you need.
