Mr Ameet Gupta is a Consultant Robotic and Urological Surgeon providing private care at The Harborne Hospital (Birmingham) and Spire Parkway Hospital (Solihull). He specialises in uro-oncology and general urology, offering expert assessment and treatment for prostate cancer, bladder cancer and a wide range of urinary problems. He is known for clear communication and a personalised, supportive approach.
He looks after people with urinary symptoms such as slow flow, frequency, urgency, getting up at night, infections that keep returning and blood in the urine. He also supports patients with raised PSA results, concerns about prostate cancer risk and suspected bladder problems. His aim is to make sure each person understands what is happening and what happens next.
His clinical work includes robotic prostatectomy for prostate cancer and robotic cystectomy for bladder cancer. He also provides flexible cystoscopy and other tests used to investigate prostate and bladder symptoms. Care is planned with radiology, oncology, anaesthesia and specialist nurses to keep investigations and treatment joined up and evidence based.
Mr Gupta completed his medical degree in London in 2007 and undertook foundation training in the East Midlands. He then spent two years in Cardiff carrying out laboratory research into bladder cancer before higher urology training across the West Midlands. He completed fellowship training at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne and later at University College Hospital London, and he holds an NHS consultant post at New Cross Hospital (Wolverhampton).
He supports education and awareness work in men’s health and draws on his research background to inform evidence-based decision making. He has a strong interest in improving outcomes in prostate and bladder cancer care and in developing safe, modern services. He also contributes to governance and service improvement within his clinical teams.

Mr Gupta was incredibly reassuring. He listened, gave clear information and kept in touch throughout the whole investigation process. His manner is warm and easy, while still professional; happily for me I need no treatment, but even if the outcome had been different, I would have welcomed Mr Gupta’s ongoing management of my care. This appointment was discussed the progression of my prostate cancer and my options I was given plenty of time to discuss my options and pros and cons of what was available. The consultation was very informative and done in a very professional and supportive manner. Every visit to the urology department has been an excellent experience with a difficult condition too have and decide on what treatment to choose. This has made for a good informed decision on treatment plan
