What our patients have to say
I had a phone call from Mr Cumberbatch, he was explaining to me how he was going to proceed with my treatment some time in November. He was very clear about what I needed and explained both the positives and the possible consequences!
— Patient of Marcus CumberbatchExcellent consultant, very clear and supportive on the process, all concerns discussed, and clear communication on the expected outcome and any potential risks, which were all minor. Great follow-up and availability to answer any questions throughout the process. Highly recommended.
— Patient of Aniruddha ChakravartiI saw Mr King as a private, insured patient, and my overall experience was very disappointing. The consultation was, in a word, unpleasant. My appointment started almost 40 minutes late. I did not necessarily expect an apology, as I appreciate that clinics can run behind schedule when patients require additional time. However, I would have appreciated at least a simple acknowledgement and a “thank you for waiting”. Patient’s time is valuable too, and I felt that this was not recognised. Mr King asked the uncomfortable and somewhat odd question, “Why did you choose me?” The answer was simple: Mr King is a urologist, and I had a urological problem that needed treatment. This question and the manner in which he asked it set a negative tone, and made me feel like Mr King didn’t want to help. Although Mr King was already running almost 40 minutes late, I noticed he looked at the clock more than once whilst I was speaking. My consultation was 30 minutes, and I was not running over my allotted time. His phone rang loudly in the middle of our discussion, whilst I was mid sentence, he did not apologise or acknowledge the interruption. At this point I felt like, I was an inconvenience. The discussion about my symptoms, felt very negative and somewhat patronising. Of course, I understand the need to set realistic expectations, but Mr King repeatedly emphasised that treating my bladder stones might not bring about any pain relief. However, the stones were causing repeated UTI’s, getting lodged in my urethra and could not pass, it felt like I was being cut to shreds. I would have appreciated some acknowledgment of my discomfort alongside the discussion of what the procedure might not achieve. Any positive information would have been reassuring/ helpful at this point. But Mr King seemed determined to lower my expectations to practically zero, repeatedly emphasising removing the stones would not help my pain. When I asked follow up questions via his secretary about my urethra, the response referred to my ureters. These are different parts of the urinary tract. I am not a consultant and yet I know the difference. Either my questions were not given enough attention for them to be answered accurately, or they were misunderstood. Either way, a lack of attention to details or lack of understanding are not what I look for in a consultant surgeon.
— Patient of Thomas KingIt was a wuick turn around. Happy with that.
— Patient of Ameet GuptaAll of the doctors, nurses and site staff were kind, polite, patient and personable! I cannot fault my visit experience, comfort and pre knowledge of my procedure keep up the amazing work
— Patient of Ameet GuptaClear, concise explanation of what was happening. Excellent friendly bedside manner. Really listened and was willing to take the necessary time to reassure me. I was impressed and thankful.
