Profile
Mr Vinnie During is a Consultant Urologist in Birmingham specialising in men’s bladder and prostate health; setting up one of the first one-stop clinics in the Midlands for men with urinary problems. He sees private patients at HCA The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham, welcoming patients from across the West Midlands, and nationally.
Enlarged prostate, erection problems and male fertility
Mr During treats conditions that make passing urine difficult. Often, the cause of this is called an enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH); a common, non-cancerous condition in older men. It can cause a weak flow or a need to get up at night to pass urine. Mr During will carry out several tests to verify the cause of your symptoms such as a cystoscopy, a camera that checks the bladder. For men with an enlarged prostate, Mr During offers several treatments; TURP (Trans-Urethral Resection of the Prostate) removes the part of the prostate pressing on the urethra, the tube that carries urine; laser surgery, known as HoLEP, removes the inner part of the prostate; and Aquablation, which uses a precise jet of water to remove prostate tissue. Mr During also offers UroLift, where small implants are placed to hold the extra-prostate tissue away from the urethra.
Mr During ‘s durings andrology work, covers men’s sexual and reproductive health (such as erectile dysfunction), alongside includes male fertility care, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and circumcision. Mr During will look for the cause and explain each option, including its benefits and risks, so you can make an informed choice.
Kidney stones and general urology
Many patients see Mr During for general urological problems such as kidney stones and urinary tract infections (UTIs). As a private, and robotically trained urological surgeon, Mr During also diagnoses and treats prostate, bladder, kidney and testicular cancer in a minimally-invasive manner.
