Profile

Dr Victoria Kunene is a Consultant Medical Oncologist who sees private patients at The Harborne Hospital. She specialises in the management of gastrointestinal cancers, including stomach, oesophageal, pancreatic, biliary tract, colorectal, and cancers of unknown primary, providing expert, compassionate care across all stages of disease.

Dr Kunene graduated in Medicine from the University of Natal, South Africa, in 1998 before relocating to the UK to continue her training. She completed her Medical Oncology Specialist Registrar training in the West Midlands in 2012, the same year she was appointed as a Consultant Medical Oncologist.

An active Principal Investigator in multiple clinical trials, Dr Kunene contributes to ongoing research that advances the understanding and treatment of cancer. Her dedication to improving patient outcomes has also been reflected in several leadership roles. She previously chaired the West Midlands Chemotherapy Expert Advisory Group and served as Chemotherapy Clinical Service Lead (CSL) at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where she helped shape regional chemotherapy guidelines and service pathways. She now continues in this role at Walsall Manor Hospital.

Dr Kunene is also a member of the West Midlands Molecular Genomic Tumour Advisory Board and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive the most advanced and individualised cancer care.

Passionate about medical education, Dr Kunene is actively involved in teaching and mentoring, helping train the next generation of oncologists while promoting evidence-based, patient-focused practice. Her approach combines scientific expertise with empathy, ensuring patients feel supported and informed throughout their treatment journey.
