Mr Ugochukwu Ihedioha, studied medicine at the University of Calabar, Nigeria, where he earned his medical degree from 1993 to 1999. Following this, he pursued his basic surgical training in Glasgow from 2002 to 2004.
Mr. Ihedioha's PHD focused on factors influencing the implementation of an enhanced recovery program in colorectal surgery. Subsequently, he pursued higher specialist training in the East Midlands from 2009 to 2014, with a particular emphasis on laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer and benign diseases, honing his skills in Leicester and Northampton.
Mr. Ihedioha underwent specialist training in pelvic floor surgery during a fellowship at Guys’ and St Thomas hospital in London from October 2014 to March 2015.
Mr Ihedioha has an interest in research and has over 20 publications on topics ranging from laparoscopic colorectal surgery, enhanced recovery programme, surgery in the elderly and hernia repair. His expertise has been showcased at numerous local, national, and international conferences through presentations of his research findings.
Mr. Ihedioha was appointed Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgeon at Northampton General Hospital. In this role, he plays a pivotal part in supporting the laparoscopic colorectal cancer service and enhancing recovery after surgery for patients in Northamptonshire.
His private practice is conducted at the Three Shires Hospital in Northampton where he offers a variety of general surgery procedures including hernia repair and colonoscopy.
