Dr Taj Saber is a Consultant Rheumatologist based in the West Midlands, where she works with the West Midlands Community Rheumatology Team at Modality NHS and also sees private patients in Birmingham. She has extensive experience in diagnosing and managing a wide range of rheumatology conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, fibromyalgia, polymyalgia rheumatica, osteoporosis, and connective-tissue diseases such as lupus and Sjögren’s syndrome. She also has a special interest in pregnancy-related arthritis and juvenile arthritis.
Dr Saber originally trained as a doctor in Ireland, spending around ten years gaining broad experience in General Medicine before being awarded the prestigious Newman Scholarship in 2007, which began her career in rheumatology. She went on to complete an MD in Rheumatology Research, focusing on rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. Her research included early work on biologic therapies, and she has presented her findings at major international rheumatology conferences in both the USA and Europe.
After moving to the West Midlands, Dr Saber completed further training in lupus and pregnancy-related rheumatology, and later obtained a European certification in juvenile arthritis. She also serves as an Honorary Clinical Researcher at the University of Birmingham, continuing her involvement in research and education.
Known for her excellent communication skills and empathetic manner, Dr Saber is often praised by patients and colleagues for her ability to explain complex conditions clearly. She ensures that every patient fully understands their diagnosis and treatment options, helping them feel informed, supported, and confident in their care.

My recent visit to my rheumatology appointment was seen by Dr Tajvur Saber. Her attention to detail was a delight as she went through all my conditions (Ostioperosis, Ostioartheritis, Fibromalgia) as well as advising me on dietary requirements that would help strengthen my bones. Not only did she go into detail but she also took her time to explain everything until it was understood clearly. She truly went above and beyond her duty of care.

I had a telephone consultation. Dr Saber was patient and listened to my concerns. She asked lots of questions. Prior to the appointment she had looked through my medical notes so was well versed in what I was already diagnosed with and which medications I was taking. I felt listened to and hopefully by the consultants advice that I would receive the help I needed.

Dr Saber is an absolute diamond. Attended appt after being in debilitating pain in joints for a month, not able to work, sleep or really function properly - after tests were completed and results she diagnosed seronegative arthritis and started a treatment plan right away. Within 48 hours the pain had gone down and I was able to "move" again. I am so grateful to Dr Saber - her manner, her knowledge, her empathy absolutely wonderful - I will forever be grateful to her. HCA are lucky to have such a knowledgeable and respected Doctor working for them. Thank you

My appointment with Dr Saber was calm and professional. She explained things clearly, answering my questions while sharing images and data on screen to aid understanding. During examination she talked me through what she was checking and why. Most importantly she adjusted her approach/communication and met me where I was. My mom recently had an appointment with the rheumatology consultant, and the experience was very positive. The doctor was patient, kind, and took the time to listen carefully to her symptoms and concerns. She felt that the consultant truly understood her condition and explained everything in a way that was easy to follow. The consultant discussed her medication plan clearly, explained possible side effects, and reassured her about what to expect in the coming weeks.
