Professor Stephen Radley is an accomplished and highly regarded consultant gynaecologist specialising in urogynaecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery, vaginal prolapse, bladder, bowel, and pelvic floor disorders, including incontinence and female sexual dysfunction. He currently practises at BMI Thornbury and Claremont Hospitals in Sheffield.
Professor Radley studied medicine at the Universities of Cambridge and London. He began training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Sheffield in 1989, where he was appointed as a consultant in 1998. He was awarded an MD by the University of Sheffield in 2005, where he was appointed as honorary professor in 2015. He works closely with colleagues in urology, colorectal surgery, physiotherapy, and other areas of gynaecology.
Professor Radley is actively involved in a number of areas of clinical research, investigating surgical and medical treatments. He was responsible for the design and implementation of ePAQ (electronic Personal Assessment Questionnaire), an online system used for the assessment of patients' conditions, quality of life, as well as progress and outcomes. ePAQ is now used widely in gynaecology, as well as throughout other healthcare areas. He is currently the clinical lead for urogynaecology in the Jessop Wing at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, where he is also director of research for reproductive medicine and childbirth.

Review of Professor Stephen Radley I recently attended a private consultation with Professor Stephen Radley regarding my stage 2 prolapse. From the outset, he was extremely informative, taking the time to explain my diagnosis in detail and discuss future options, including possible surgery, ongoing care, and the use of a pessary. Following his advice, I had a pessary inserted, which provided immediate support. Four months later, I returned for a follow-up appointment where the pessary was reinserted. On this occasion, Professor Radley gave me thorough training on how to manage the insertion myself. This has been invaluable, as it allows me to self-care and avoid repeated long journeys from Lincoln to Sheffield. Throughout both visits, Professor Radley demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and a commitment to patient empowerment. His clear explanations and practical guidance gave me confidence in managing my condition. He also referred me to a nurse-led clinic for future follow-up, ensuring continuity of care and accessible support. I am very grateful for his expertise and the thoughtful way he tailored my care to my circumstances. Professor Radley’s approach has made a significant difference to my confidence and quality of life, and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking specialist advice and treatment. From the moment I met Professor Radley he put me at ease, he listened to my symptoms and problems, he then started to put a plan in place, this part is working at the moment how long we don't know but Professor Radley will be there to solve the issue, I'm so glad I went to see him . Professor Radley was very professional but also very approachable. He listened as I explained my issues and after an examination, explained what the problems were.
