Mr Sofoklis Panteleimonitis is a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon providing private care at Spire Little Aston Hospital (Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham). Mr Panteleimonitis holds an NHS consultant post at Good Hope Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham, where he was appointed in 2022. He graduated from the University of Leicester and completed higher surgical training in the Wessex Deanery. He also completed an MRes and MD focused on robotic rectal cancer surgery at the University of Portsmouth.
He undertook prestigious robotic colorectal fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital in London and at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, two internationally recognised centres for advanced robotic rectal cancer surgery. He has published widely in robotic colorectal surgery and is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings. He is actively involved in training surgeons in robotic techniques and helps lead regional development of robotic colorectal services.

There are some people you meet in life who you will never forget, and Mr Sofoklis Panteleimonitis is one of those people. From the very beginning, he treated me with such kindness, compassion and respect. Going through cancer and major surgery was one of the most frightening and difficult experiences of my life, but I always felt that I was in the safest possible hands with him. Mr Panteleimonitis is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, but what meant just as much to me was the human side of the care he gave me. He spoke to me with kindness, listened to me, reassured me and made me feel that I mattered as a person, not simply as a patient. My surgery was major and complex, and I will never forget what he did for me. When you are the person lying in that hospital bed, frightened and putting your life into somebody else’s hands, that level of skill, care and compassion means more than words can really express. He treated me fantastically throughout my care and gave me confidence during a time when I felt incredibly vulnerable. To me, Mr Panteleimonitis is a true hero. I will always be grateful for his skill, dedication, compassion and for the care he showed me and my family during such a difficult chapter of my life. Thank you simply does not feel enough, but I will carry an enormous amount of gratitude for him for the rest of my life. I could not recommend Mr Sofoklis Panteleimonitis more highly.

Mr Panteleimonitis Consultant colorectal and genetal surgeon was very professional throughout my experience as a patient under his care at Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital. I felt completely cared for from the outset of my contact with Mr Ponteleimonitis given the way in which he explained the outcome of tests undertaken by the hospital leading to my prognosis. I was given his reassurance that the process would be straightforward and not complicated given his observation of his findings. He explained in the presence of a Clinical Nurse what the whole process of care would entail, when and where and for how long - which also gave me and my husband time to ask relevant questions where necessary re my care and outcomes during and following surgery. Given the fact I was put at ease throughout the whole process I feel that this aided my speedy recovery and I remained upbeat throughout. I felt well prepared for surgery and felt well cared for afterards by all care staff. I also only remained in hospital for the number of days stated by Mr Panteleimonitis which was also a demonstration of the care he said I would receive, and expect which I feel was exceptional given my speedy recovery where I continued to remain upbeat throughout the whole process right up until my next appointment with him 4 weeks after discharge from hospital. Mr Panteleimonitis people skills and care was exceptional which enabled me to remain at ease throughout the whole process of my care which I thanked him for.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 locally advanced rectal cancer in November 2025. I remember stepping in to Dr Panteleimontitis office with my Daughter and the 1st words he spoke to me was “you are not going to die” and from that day I knew I was in the best hands. Dr Panteleimonitis and the rest of the team came up with a plan and from that day my care has been exceptional. After having a heart problem after my 1st chemotherapy there was a change of plan and I had a 5 day course of radiotherapy which would be followed by surgery. I had a fantastic response to the radiotherapy. Dr Panteleimonitis sent me for pre operative physiotherapy which would help with my recovery. The day of surgery arrived and Dr Panteleimonitis came to see me and explained again what was going to happen in surgery, he is just so good at making you feel like your in safe hands. I had a full hysterectomy, and a high anterior reaction with a hipec wash. Surgery was 10 hours and I spent 4 days in hospital before I returned home. I believe I was out of hospital so quickly due to my pre physiotherapy. I went to see Dr Panteleimonitis for my results on the 12th of August, and I am pleased to say I am cancer free. I will be forever grateful to Dr Panteleimonitis for his care, professionalism and how well my surgery went. He has saved my life and for that I am so thankful. What an amazing man he is and a credit to our incredible NHS.

I felt cared for as a person, not a statistic. Mr Pantelemanitis put me at ease before the surgery. He had a confidence in his own skill that came across during the consultation, but at no point did he ever seem overly confident or cocky. He explained the procedure in a way that I could understand as a patient but was at no point condescending. With regards to his surgical skills I can only say that I have made a good recovery, and the scars are barely visible already. In the nicest possible way, I hope not to need his services again.

During my stay in hospital I was treated with great care and kindness by everyone. All the doctors and nurses were wonderful and did their jobs with great skill. I know that it is because of your skill and the skill of your wonderful team who looked after me that I am now doing so well. You personally telephoned my partner at home to tell her that the operation was over and that I was doing well. This was very kind of you and helped to put her mind at rest. The surgery all went very well - I felt fortunate to benefit from robotic surgery and I was pleased to not need a stoma. The information from Mr Panteleimonitis and the team was all very clear, caring and helpful in guiding me through the treatment needed and likely outcomes. Despite some changes in my habits, I have recovered very well overall and I have been able to return to work full time in quite a demanding role. I am also grateful for the ongoing support from the colerectal nurses and a clearly structured surveillance schedule. I offer my heartfelt thanks for my excellent treatment.

All the stuff I dealt with are excellent caring perhaps a little bit more detail into the robotic. Surgery would’ve been good. I wasn’t expecting to see so many incisions but having glued rather than stitches was a good outcome.

My recent procedure did have one or two hitches . I had to be moved from Good Hope to Solihull Hospital and back again after the operation. This was handled as well as possible and I was kept informed of developments . My recovery took longer than anticipated but all through my stay at Good Hope Mr Panteleimonitis went out of his way to visit and reassure me that my condition would improve. Admitted to hospital with an acute blockage of bowel. Extremely painful. All staff involved in care were very professional., reassuring about plan of care. Mr Sofoklis Panteleimonitis was a constant source of empathy, providing a decisive course of surgical treatment that would benefit me in my recovery. He undertook a laparoscopic approach to release the adhesions. Together with the very clever anaesthetists and the wonderful ward staff I made a quick and speedy recovery. I am so grateful to the whole team..
