  Can’t complain about anything other than being informed about what time I would be going down for my operation.   From day one I knew I had made the right choice after having been recommended to Mr Cooke. The clarity of the explanation, answering questions, him dealing with an unexpected flareup of diverticulitis that made the surgery more complicated, to explaining why some nerve sacrifice of the one side of the prostate was necessary, all of the engagement filled me with reassurance. His manner is exemplary. I feel very lucky. 12 weeks post surgery I have no pain, no incontinence, small scars perfectly healed. Expectations set early. I am a 66 year old male and have now had a zero PSA test result. I can wholly recommend Mr. Cooke.and am thankful for his care and expertise.

  Mr Cooke operated on my husband 3 months ago after discovering he had prostate cancer. This was devastating news for us both. A friend in the medical profession recommended Mr Cooke to us and I can honestly say from the bottom of my heart it was the best decision we have ever made.   I was diagnosed 4 years ago with prostate cancer. The initial prognosis from NHS MRI was to quote ‘there are signs of potential widespread prostate cancer’. I immediately registered with Mr Cooke and insisted all my records went to him at Nuffield, Wolverhampton. On meeting with him, the NHS diagnosis couldn’t be further from the truth! My Cooke took my case on and after biopsies, more MRI etc, he advised me that this was not a case to panic, but to monitor by blood tests which we did for 4 years. I felt totally reassured and in great hands. After 4 years the cancer had grown and I decided to have my prostate removed as I thought the right option having weighed up the options provided by Mr Cooke. I waited 12 months for the NHS robot to be available at New Cross Hospital. In the meantime Mr Cooke put me on drugs to reduce and contain the cancer, he continued to support and reassure. 20 months ago Mr Cooke removed my prostate by robotic surgery, all went well and I am now totally recovered with return PSA tests showing no indication of cancer present. My experience, whilst initially a bit fraught from the NHS diagnosis was brilliant. I am indebted to Mr Cooke for fantastic care and professional attitude throughout. I have indeed recommended Mr Cooke to several friends who have experienced the same as me. Thanks Simon H

  The best money I've ever spent. In September an ultrasound had descovered my prostate was enlarged and had what was described as a benign tumour on it. My GP decided that I should have an urgent consultation with a urologist, who subsequently retested my PSA and sent me for an MRI and a followup. This was all in France where I live. Worried that the MRI wasnt scheduled for a month with the followup 5 weeks after and naturally fearing the worse, I started to become concerned that the process was taking too long. A friend, who had recovered from prostate cancer, recommended Peter. Firstly, the staff were amazing. They moved heaven and earth to fit me in at a weeks notice. When I got to the hospital everyone that greeted me were polite, caing and immediately put me at ease. The hurried over zealous officiousness I so often associate with hospitals was replaced by a relaxed, effective environment in which I could relax. Very different from my experiences in both France and the UK. In the consultation, Peter listened intently as I went through my history. His responses and explanations were clear and thorough. His experience really shone through as he went into the nuances of my diagnosis, describing, for instance, how the PSA was very important for him and that the fact that it was still decreasing was a good sign. He also explained that the ultrasound had to be interpreted with some care as it could not distinguish between a number of issues. He put my mind at ease and told me that, given the situation, it would be better to follow the care plan in France. He also clearly understood the nuances of his field and seemed to be up to date with the latest research and thinking. I'm transgender and present as a woman. Peter was not at all fazed by this and It was easy to talk to him about intimate sexual matters. He said as I left that he aimed to care for all people no matter who they were. I cannot praise Peter and his staff enough. I left feeling heard, informed and reassured, in short, cared for in the best way possible. Thank you, to you all.

  There are few people you come across in life that have a massive influence and I am delighted to say that Peter Cooke is one of them. No-one wants to hear that they have cancer and that they are about to embark on a life-changing journey into the frightening unknown that will affect you and everyone else around you that are dear to you. From the moment that my wife and I met Peter we were instantly assured that we were in safe and confident hands. Peter clearly and succinctly explained the options that were available to me and set out a care plan that would ultimately save my life.
