Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya is a consultant colorectal and general surgeon providing private care at The Meriden Hospital (Coventry). He specialises in colorectal cancer and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, offering expert assessment and treatment for bowel cancer, polyps, haemorrhoids and hernias. Mr Wanigasooriya holds an NHS consultant post at George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust (North Warwickshire). He graduated in Medicine from the University of Birmingham in 2010 and completed higher surgical training in the West Midlands Deanery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and has broad experience across general and colorectal surgery.
Alongside his clinical work, he completed an MBA at the University of Bradford and was awarded a PhD in Cancer and Genomics from the University of Birmingham. His research focused on how rectal cancers respond to treatment. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and remains actively involved in research and surgical education.

Mr Kasun Wanigasooriya is an excellent surgeon who shows warmth, sympathy and patience to his patients. On my most recent visit which took place at the George Eliot Hospital all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Mr Wanigasooriya showed his usual friendliness and gave a detailed revue of the surgical treatment I have received and what I should expect in the forthcoming healing process. I would like to wish him the continuing successful career that he rightfully deserves.

Mr Kasoon operated on my bowel last December and this colonoscopy was to check on the status of a polyp that had been proving an issue. Luckily for me it has disappeared. Mr Kasoon is very kind, a good communicator and a real professional and I appreciate his handiwork - he probably saved my life.

The consultation was very thorough and I left clinic room very well informed. I am particularly impressed how Mr Kasun performed colonoscopy. He listen carefully to my concerns. Everything went very smoothly and his technical skills made colonoscopy feel easier than it really is! Entire admission was smooth and I left the hospital soon after.

I am extremely grateful to Dr Kasun Wanigasooriya for the exceptional care he provided during the most difficult period of my life. Ten months ago, after being diagnosed with sigmoid bowel cancer, I underwent a laparoscopic high anterior resection and sigmoid colectomy to remove a sigmoid adenocarcinoma. From the very beginning, Dr Wanigasooriya explained everything clearly and reassuringly, which gave me great confidence going into the operation. The surgery was extremely successful, and my recovery was remarkably fast. Throughout the entire process, I felt completely safe in his hands. His professionalism, skill, calm manner and attention to detail made the whole experience feel smooth and well managed. I was treated with great care, kindness and respect at every stage. I cannot thank Dr Wanigasooriya enough for his expertise and for giving me such reassurance during a frightening time. I would recommend him without hesitation to anyone requiring colorectal surgery.

Mr Kasun is always calm and professional in approach, explained clearly the whole process and was given the opportunity to ask questions. The whole team was approachable and friendly and maintained my privacy at high standards constantly.
