Mr Jitesh Parmar is a Consultant Laparoscopic, Bariatric, and Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) Surgeon. He specialises in keyhole (laparoscopic) and weight-loss surgery, including gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, one-anastomosis gastric bypass, gastric band, and the swallowable gastric balloon. He also performs gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy), hernia repair, and anti-reflux surgery (fundoplication) for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease.
After completing advanced surgical training in Leicester, Mr Parmar undertook two highly regarded post-CCT fellowships in bariatric surgery at St George Hospital in Sydney, Australia, and the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, UK. At St George — Australia’s busiest bariatric centre and its first internationally accredited Centre of Bariatric Excellence — he trained under world-renowned surgeons Dr Michael Talbot and Dr Ken Loi.
Between 2019 and 2022, Mr Parmar worked as a Consultant UGI and Bariatric Surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust. He now holds a substantive consultant post at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, and Walsall Manor Hospital, Walsall. As a key member of the Black Country Collaborative, he provides bariatric surgery for patients across the region. His private practice is based at Spire Little Aston Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.
Mr Parmar is the Clinical Governance Lead at New Cross Hospital, where he oversees several quality improvement projects, including the development of a robotic UGI surgery service. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the University of Manchester for his research in vascular surgery and continues to publish and present work in weight-loss, metabolic, and UGI surgery at national and international conferences.

General experience of a hospital appointment & operation tends to generate a certain level of apprehension and possible fear. Mr Pamar is a surgeon of excellence. From our initial consultation to surgery he was very professional and compassionate. My surgery experience was amazing. The only regret I have is that I had my sleeve gasterectomy sooner. Mr Pamar has made a new life and experience possible for me and im forver in debt to him for the new life he has been able to give me with.

I recently had surgery with Dr. Parmar, and I couldn't be more grateful for his care and expertise. I was originally scheduled for a bypass, but due to complications, I ended up having a sleeve procedure instead. Throughout the process, Dr. Parmar made sure I felt completely at ease, taking the time to answer all of my questions and address any concerns. His professionalism and compassion were evident, and I truly appreciated the personal touch he provided. Not only did he visit me regularly on the ward, but he also took the extra step of calling home to check on my recovery. It’s clear he cares deeply about his patients, and I would highly recommend him to anyone considering surgery.

Mr Palmer recently completed my laparoscopic gall bladder surgery at Spire, he was very professional and explained the procedure fully, I met him at my consultation, the day of my surgery and he then followed up with a further call a week later to review my recovery and answer any follow up questions, my overall experience with Mr Palmer and Spire was exceptional.

Mr Parmar was extremely professional and empathetic when I came to visit him for a consultation regarding pain with gallstones. I was so grateful for his sense of urgency in fitting me in for surgery very last minute before Christmas. On the day of the surgery Mr Parmar was very reassuring when he visited pre op and also came straight to see me to let me know how the surgery went as soon as I was back on the ward. Not only was Mr Parmar very attentive while at the hospital but I also received a follow up phone call from him a week later to see how I was getting on with recovery. Id never met Mr parmar before my surgery during clinic, so I was a little sceptical on who was doing my surgery when I had the surgery date come through and his name was the surgeon, but from the time I met him on the date of my surgery he put me at ease, answered my questions and explained everything to me. Mr parmar visited me a few times on the ward to make sure I was alright and got me the best care from the nurses that I needed for my certain surgery. He also has phoned me up to make sure I was okay and doing well at home.

Mr Parmar has been excellent throughout my journey to repair my inguinal hernia. His explanation of the process at my pre consultation was informative and calming. My surgery went smoothly and Mr Palmar has followed up on my progress which is comforting. Any type of surgical procedure can be a daunting challenge. But my experience of Mr Palmar has been throughly excellent and rest assured your will be in very safe hands.
