Mr James Barnes is a Consultant Surgeon with specialist expertise in transplant surgery, dialysis access, and parathyroid surgery. His NHS practice is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where he provides advanced surgical care for patients requiring complex endocrine and renal procedures.

Mr Barnes graduated in Medicine from the University of Warwick in 2007 and completed his surgical training in the West Midlands Region. He then undertook a three-year Clinical Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford, where he received further clinical training in transplantation and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (DPhil) for his research into graft surveillance after pancreas transplantation.

Following completion of his training, Mr Barnes has worked as a Consultant Surgeon in Birmingham, Coventry, and Oxford, gaining extensive experience across multiple centres of excellence before focusing his practice in Birmingham.
