Profile

Mr Christopher Hillary is a Consultant Urological Surgeon based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, with a sub-specialist interest in complex kidney cancer surgery. He performs several major kidney operations each week while maintaining a broad general urology practice. His expertise includes bladder cancer, benign prostate disease, stone disease, functional urology, and basic andrology.

Mr Hillary graduated with an MBChB from the University of Leicester in 2009 and completed surgical training across the Midlands and South Yorkshire. He then undertook a PhD at the University of Sheffield in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, awarded in 2017, focusing on stem cell therapies for urogenital reconstruction. He achieved FRCS (Urol) in 2019 and now serves as Uro-oncology MDT Chair at Chesterfield, Clinical Lead for Kidney Cancer, and Educational Supervisor for trainees.

In his private practice at Spire Claremont Hospital, Mr Hillary offers a wide range of treatments, including bladder investigations (cystoscopy), bladder lesion removal, prostate surgery (including laser procedures), vasectomy, hydrocele surgery, urodynamics, and procedures for stress urinary incontinence. He also provides cancer diagnostics and testing.

Originally from Yorkshire, Mr Hillary now lives in Sheffield with his wife and two young daughters. Outside work, he enjoys cycling and building projects, reflecting his practical and focused approach both in and out of the operating theatre.
