Mr Christopher Hillary is a Consultant Urological Surgeon providing private care at Spire Claremont Hospital (Sheffield). He specialises in complex kidney cancer and general urology, offering expert assessment and treatment for kidney cancer, bladder cancer, prostate symptoms, stone disease and urinary problems. His practice combines advanced surgical expertise with supportive, patient focused care.

He manages a wide range of urology conditions, including benign prostate enlargement, bladder and kidney stones, recurrent urinary infections and functional bladder problems. He also treats scrotal conditions, provides male contraception advice and supports patients with early and advanced cancer of the urinary tract. His focus is on understanding each person’s symptoms and creating a clear, personalised treatment plan that feels manageable and well supported.

His clinical practice includes cystoscopy, transurethral resection of bladder tumours, prostate surgery, vasectomy and hydrocele surgery. He also performs urodynamic studies and offers treatments for stress urinary incontinence. Care is planned with radiology, oncology and specialist nursing teams to ensure investigations and treatment are joined up, evidence based and designed around each patient’s needs.

After graduating in medicine from the University of Leicester, Mr Hillary completed postgraduate surgical training across the Midlands and South Yorkshire. He undertook a PhD in Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine at the University of Sheffield, where his research focused on stem cell applications for reconstructive surgery. He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology in 2019 and was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

He is actively involved in teaching, research and service leadership. He chairs the uro oncology multidisciplinary team, leads the kidney cancer service and supervises specialist trainees. His academic work includes national and international presentations, peer reviewed publications and ongoing research contributions in modern urological care.

Mr Hillary’s approach is calm, clear and highly patient centred. He takes time to explain investigations and treatment options in simple, straightforward language and works with each person to agree a plan that supports confidence and understanding. Outside work, he enjoys cycling and practical building projects, and lives in Sheffield with his wife and two young daughters.
