Profile
Mrs Anita Sonsale is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon providing private care at The Priory Hospital (Birmingham) and Spire Little Aston Hospital (Sutton Coldfield). She specialises in general ENT and laryngology, offering assessment and treatment for voice problems, neck lumps, parathyroid conditions and a wide range of ear, nose and throat symptoms. Her practice supports people with persistent throat issues, breathing problems and concerns about changes in voice or swallowing.
She manages chronic tonsillitis, swallowing difficulties, dizziness, hearing loss, tinnitus, blocked ears, nasal obstruction, sinus problems and nasal polyps. She also cares for people with voicing difficulties linked to vocal cord weakness, irritation or overuse, helping them regain clarity and confidence in their voice. Her clinics provide structured assessment for symptoms that affect daily life, work and wellbeing.
Her clinical practice includes flexible nasendoscopy, laryngoscopy and ear microsuction to support accurate diagnosis, along with tonsillectomy, septoplasty and functional endoscopic sinus surgery. She also performs parathyroid surgery, laryngeal framework procedures and surgery for neck lumps, ensuring treatment is modern, safe and personalised. Care is planned with speech therapists, endocrinologists and specialist nurses so that investigations and treatment remain joined up and evidence based.
After graduating MBBS from Bombay University, Mrs Sonsale completed a Master of Surgery in ENT before earning Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. She undertook higher surgical training in otolaryngology and went on to develop specialist expertise in voice disorders, parathyroid disease and complex head and neck conditions. She is now a Consultant ENT Surgeon at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, where she contributes to advanced ENT and laryngology services.
She is active in education, research and service improvement. As a clinical tutor, CESR lead and accredited educational supervisor, she supports junior doctors and ENT trainees in developing clinical and surgical skills. She contributes to simulation training and works closely with speech therapists, neurophysiologists and voice coaches to improve outcomes for people with airway and voice conditions.
Mrs Sonsale’s approach is calm, clear and patient centred. She takes time to listen, explain findings and support shared decision making so that treatment plans feel informed and manageable. Her aim is to provide high quality, supportive care that helps people return to comfortable breathing, confident speaking and everyday activities with ease.
