Mr Amit Patel is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon providing private care at Spire South Bank Hospital (Worcester), Spire Parkway Hospital (Solihull) and The Droitwich Spa Hospital (Droitwich). He specialises in laparoscopic colorectal and general surgery and offers expert assessment and treatment for bowel symptoms, colorectal cancer, diverticular disease, hernias and anorectal conditions. His care is focused on clear explanations, safe surgery and helping people return to normal activity.

He treats rectal bleeding, changes in bowel habit, abdominal pain and prolapse, as well as long-standing constipation or diarrhoea. He manages colorectal polyps and colorectal cancer and supports people with diverticular disease by guiding them through tests and treatment choices. He also looks after anorectal problems such as haemorrhoids, fissures and fistula in ano, along with groin, umbilical and incisional hernias.

Mr Patel graduated with honours from St George’s Hospital Medical School in London and completed postgraduate surgical training in the region. He undertook two years of research at University College London, gaining a master’s degree and a strong interest in colorectal disease. His higher specialist training included a laparoscopic colorectal fellowship at St Mark’s Hospital under Professor Robin Kennedy. He was appointed as a Consultant at Worcestershire Acute NHS Trust in 2014.

He remains active in research, teaching and service development. He has published in peer reviewed journals and helped introduce day-case pathways for laparoscopic surgery. He has also contributed to a regional pelvic floor service and modern haemorrhoid treatment pathways.
