Mr Aemn Ismail is a consultant gynaecologist and gynaecological oncologist in Leicester and Nottingham. He is a women's health specialist with extra training in gynaecological cancers. Cancer care and keyhole surgery
If you are worried about a possible gynaecological cancer, Mr Ismail can help you get answers. He diagnoses and treats cancers of the ovary, womb (endometrial), cervix and vulva, and will guide you through each step. Where possible, he uses keyhole (laparoscopic) or robotic-assisted surgery. These use small cuts instead of one large one, so many patients recover faster. He carries out keyhole and robotic hysterectomy, as well as complex surgery for severe endometriosis. General gynaecology
Many women see Mr Ismail for everyday problems. As a private gynaecologist in Leicester and Nottingham, he helps with heavy or painful periods, fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometriosis and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). He also supports women through the menopause and treats prolapse. Bleeding after the menopause (postmenopausal bleeding) should always be checked, and he can investigate the cause. He can also help with fertility tests, contraception and recurrent miscarriage. If you need a closer look, he offers private hysteroscopy, where a thin camera checks inside the womb. He also offers private colposcopy, a close check of the cervix after an abnormal smear test.
Experience and training
Mr Ismail has completed years of extra training in gynaecological cancer surgery, with accreditation recognised in both the UK and Europe (from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology). He leads gynaecological cancer services at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, where he chairs the team of specialists who plan each patient's care. He also trains other surgeons and teaches at the University of Leicester, which keeps him up to date with new developments in his field.

I had an excellent experience with Mr Amen Ismail, from my very first appointment through to my discharge after surgery. My experience was excellent .Mr Ismail was kind caring and made me feel safe in his professional hands . He was patient with my copious questions and kept me informed at all times . Nothing was too much trouble and truly I am blessed to have Mr Ismail as my consultant .

Thanks to his exceptional surgical skills, I experienced minimal pain and was able to go home the very next day. I was up and walking around within a week. I cannot thank Mr Ismail enough. I highly recommend him to anyone facing this procedure.

The visit was ok. Mr Ismail brought in a health care assistant when he examined me. When I got dressed I felt rushed and she stood over me as I tried to get my shoes on and made me feel like I was taking too long. She suggested I put them on properly when I got home. In the end I had to leave without putting them on properly. There was no chair to leave my clothes on or sit on to do my shoes, so it's hardly surprising I struggled. Im not sure how sunroof kess able bodied would manage. She needs to improve her manner, she didn't show any empathy. The appointment was the 1st the day and started 15 minutes late, which wasn't an issue in itself but it was a short appointment and I didn't appreciate being rushed out. I honestly never complain, but felt it was important to feed this back.

I couldn’t have asked for better support or care, thank you. Mr Ismail was so kind from the moment I met him at the initial consultation and on the day of my surgery and at today’s follow up meeting. I cannot thank Mr Ismail, his very efficient secretary and the team at the Nuffield Hospital enough for making this scary event in my life so easy to manage.

Mr Aemn Ismail was truly a blessing to have as my surgeon! I was assured and given a very thorough understanding of the procedure and what to expect with all possibilities, he was very clear what to expect with the recovery process, what long term recovery will look like. Mr Ismail is very supportive and understanding. He is very patient and takes his time. The other doctors around him also praise his work and how he operates. I have since been recommending him to a number of friends who are struggling to get answers or not understanding what their options are. He comes extremely highly recommended, I am truly grateful!

Under Mr Ismail’s care, I underwent a full hysterectomy alongside removal of my ovaries and a large cyst, by keyhole. Someone was looking over me when I found Mr Ismail; I feel incredibly lucky that he was my Consultant, and words really don’t do his skill or personality justice. Mr Ismail truly sets the benchmark for patient care and he sets it high. He is kind, empathetic, patient and, above all, human. He has a natural ability to put you at ease, which meant I felt completely comfortable discussing all aspects of my symptoms, treatment options and concerns with him. He always had time for me; I never once felt rushed and, most importantly, I always felt genuinely listened to. Mr Ismail is clearly exceptionally skilled in his craft, and it is evident how passionate he is about his speciality. His reputation precedes him, with every member of the medical staff I encountered speaking of him with the highest regard. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

I honestly can’t thank Dr. Ismail enough. He was incredibly kind, skilled, and took the time to explain everything clearly. After waiting forever with another private consultant who kept trying to arrange joint surgery, Dr Ismail stepped in and finally got things moving. He did my operation smoothly and gave me my life back after a long period of suffering in a very slow system. I’m truly grateful and couldn’t recommend him more.
