Mr Adnan Darr is a Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon providing private care at The Harborne Hospital (Birmingham). He specialises in rhinology and anterior skull base surgery, offering assessment and treatment for nasal blockage, sinusitis, smell disorders and complex skull base problems.
He looks after people with chronic sinusitis, nasal infections, nasal polyps, septal deviation and smell loss, as well as related facial pain and pressure. He also assesses complex skull base disease and works with neurosurgeons and other specialists when combined surgery or follow up is needed. Care is tailored to each person’s symptoms.
His clinical practice includes endoscopic sinus surgery, anterior skull base surgery and procedures for chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps. He offers minimally invasive endoscopic approaches to support quicker recovery and precise treatment. Care is planned with radiology and specialist nursing teams so investigations and treatment are well coordinated.
After a Bachelor’s degree in Physics at the University of Birmingham and a Master’s degree in Medical Physics at the University of Surrey, Mr Darr studied Medicine at the University of Manchester. He completed higher surgical training in the West Midlands before an Advanced Rhinology and Anterior Skull Base Fellowship at Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham. He gained the European Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery Diploma from the University of Paris and was appointed as a Consultant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire in 2022.
He is actively involved in medical education. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education, has written peer reviewed work and teaches at Warwick Medical School. He also directs cadaveric training courses in functional endoscopic sinus surgery and facial plastics at the West Midlands Surgical Training Centre, and his academic work has received awards.
His approach to care is calm, clear and patient centred. He takes time to understand each person’s symptoms and explains investigations and treatment options in straightforward language. He works with patients to agree a plan that reflects their priorities, drawing on up-to-date surgical techniques and evidence-based care to achieve the best possible outcomes. Outside work, he enjoys time with his family, travelling, playing badminton and supporting Liverpool Football Club.

I had a consultation with Mr Darr & Mr Stockton (Oct 2024). Mr Darr explained the procedure and expected wait time of approximately 12 months. I had my surgery 09/12/25 as a day case and a follow up 10 days post op. Splints removed and further 12 week follow up discussed. Thank you for your specialist care and explanation of my case. Recently I had a Septorhinoplasty to improve my breathing and to fix the appearance of my very one sided nose. I could genuinely not of asked for a better surgeon. From start to finish Dr Darr has made me feel so comfortable and confident in the procedure aswell as him as a surgeon. It was a very anxious and scary thing for me due to my luck of not needing any operations so far in life but thanks to Dr Darr I was more excited than scared. Now I have had the surgery and splints have been removed, I am literally in shock from seeing the results of how my nose looks and just how much my breathing has been improved which was the main issue. I’m so excited to be able to now sleep in peace, to exercise and overall experience every smell. He has completely changed my life and I am so appreciative for the genuine desire to help people like me. There is not enough words that can describe have talented Dr Darr is. I am so happy with how I look and feel. 100% would recommend to anybody in my situation.

Honestly this appointment was a breath of fresh air, id only every visit to see a doctor was as comfortable and reassuring as Dr Darr’s appointment. I truly believe you guys are lucky to have him within your company. He listens, acknowledges and understands. This was completely different to my first visit to see ENT! I really hope I get to see this dr again, I honestly cannot speak more highly of him, he is absolutely incredible and so was the lady who sat in on the appointment. Honestly I didn’t want to leave. Dr Adnan Darr is extremely professional couldn't fault all he's done for me,He's a huge asset to the NHS & His patients he resolves problems instead of like most Doctors/Consultants if they were even qualified ENT Consultants,now even after only 10 days post op,I feel my quality of life as improved. My issue as been going on roughly 20 years,I think the head of NHS Needs to start employing more people like Dr Adnan Darr instead of Consultants & Doctors that fob people off,Then as result of this keep taking more & more of Doctors/Consultants time up. Dr Darr has been wonderful and transparent through the whole process of my septoplasty/turbinoplasty. On my initial referral, he was quick to examine and address the issue, and provided a satisfying explanation of the steps to resolve it. He made me aware of the benefits to the procedure, while also managing expectations so as to not set me up for disappointment. The procedure itself was handled expertly, which in turn allowed the healing process to be an absolute breeze. Throughout the whole process, Dr. Darr has been friendly, even being open to conversation and jokes, and I would gladly trust this man to perform surgery on me again in future. He has changed my life for the better and been nothing but personable, and I wish him all the best.

Dr Darr, has been amazing, after seeing a different Dr for 2 years and discharged withoit knowledge I was referred to Dr Darr he seen me, listened to me treated me and solved my problem without hesitation clear explanation and fantastic bedside manner I would recommend Dr to anyone who wants compassion understanding and 5 start treatment. Dr Darr is kind, funny, knowledgeable and professional. At every appointment he explained what would happen and what to expect. On the day of my operation he explained what would happen and what to expect afterwards. I had a question regarding my stitches in the weeks after the operation and I was able to text and got an answer and reassurance on the same day. My nose is now perfect with no issues and can breathe better than I have in years. In all post operation appointments I have again known what will happen and what to expect

Over the moon. My nose was all over the place. Couldn’t breathe and my nose looked awful. Fast forward 12 months and it looks amazing and I can breathe for the first time in 10 years. Thank goodness for the NHS and most of all Mr Darr, an absolute legend.

What a relief!! I have been seen at Good Hope and Warwick Hospital and was pretty much told nothing could be done for my nasal congestion as I had exhausted all medical and surgical options. On the off chance my GP had heard good things about mr Darr so thought we had very little to lose by seeing him. Within the first 10 mins of seeing him, he told me my nasal partition was deviated and my lining was swollen. He listed me for surgery and what can I say, I never realised how poor a quality of life I had before mr darr intervened. My life is so much better, and I now no longer wake up fatigued and bunged up. You’ve worked wonders for me and I can’t thank you enough.

For years I’ve suffered with debilitating nasal blockage. I had tried every spray under the sun and was always told nothing more could be done. Someone then recommended Dr. Darr, who they were seeing, and to say that he has changed my life is an understatement. He immediately told me that I had a deviated partition in my nose with swelling of the lining, and that surgery would certainly make a difference. I went ahead and whilst the first week was challenging with worsening in my breathing, when the splints were taken out, I was able to breathe for the first time in decades. I can sleep, I can taste things now, and my partner says I no longer snore. Thank you so much!!!

What more can I say. Doctor Darr is perhaps one of the most down to earth and humorous doctors I've ever seen in my 7 decades or so as a patient. For years, I suffered from chronic sinus infections, constant congestion, and unbearable pressure. Nothing helped, and it was completely debilitating. Finally, I had sinus surgery, and it was life changing. My doctor was incredibly skilled, reassuring, and made the whole process smooth from start to finish. Dr Darr is one of the most personable surgeons I've ever met. He completely put me at ease, and went out of his way to ensure I had the best experience. When my surgery was cancelled due to his accident, he went out of his way to write letters and recommend another surgeon to me, even when he was signed off work himself. I'm so glad that I waited for him to recover though, as he did a fantastic job with my nasal and sinus surgeries. A great guy and excellent surgeon!
