Vanja Giljaca

Dr Vanja Giljaca is a Consultant Gastroenterologist, an Advanced Interventional Endoscopist, and UK accredited Bowel Cancer Screening Colonoscopist. He currently serves as the clinical lead for Endoscopy at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham.

Dr Giljaca graduated from the University of Rijeka Medical School in Croatia in 2004. He completed his specialty training in Gastroenterology in Croatia before being appointed as a consultant at Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham in 2016, where he has been practising since.

Dr Giljaca conducted his doctoral research at the Royal Free Hospital in London and was awarded a PhD for his work on diagnostic methods for biliary stone disease. He is an active member of the Quality Improvement Committee of the European Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), a member of the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG), and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.
