Profile

Mr Nijjar qualified in Medicine at the University of Birmingham in 1994. He completed surgical Training in the West Midlands but also trained in Thoracic surgery in Liverpool. Mr Nijjar spent time researching Cancer of the Oesophagus and completed a further degree at University College London. After completing his training in the UK he spent time in Japan, improving his experience of Gastric surgery and then worked in the University Hospital of Adelaide for a further year. Here, he spent time improving his knowledge and experience of Upper GI Surgery.

He has been a Consultant Upper GI Surgeon at University Hospitals Birmingham since August 2009, has senior management roles in education, and currently leads the Upper GI Surgery service for University Hospitals, Birmingham.
