Dr. Andrew King is a highly experienced consultant gastroenterologist and hepatologist offering private care at The Priory Hospital, HCA The Harborne Hospital, and NHS care at University Hospitals Birmingham, including Birmingham Heartlands and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals. He specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver conditions, with particular expertise in gastroscopy for accurate diagnoses and effective management.
After graduating from Imperial College School of Medicine, London, in 2001, Dr. King completed his specialist training at hospitals across the West Midlands. His advanced training at the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Liver Unit further developed his expertise in managing complex liver conditions, including fatty liver disease, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, and alcohol-related liver disease. In 2015, he was appointed as a consultant at University Hospitals Birmingham.
Dr. King is also a recognised leader in medical education and training. As the Training Programme Director for Gastroenterology in the West Midlands and Training Lead at University Hospitals Birmingham, he mentors the next generation of specialists. He is a GMC-accredited supervisor and an experienced endoscopic trainer, frequently invited to teach on regional endoscopy courses, where he shares his expertise with healthcare professionals.
